La propuesta ahora ser\u00e1 debatida en la C\u00e1mara de los Comunes, donde el Partido Laborista tiene mayor\u00eda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El primer ministro Keir Starmer se\u00f1al\u00f3 a comienzos de la semana que su gobierno no descarta ninguna opci\u00f3n para proteger a los ni\u00f1os en l\u00ednea, aunque ha indicado que prefiere esperar los resultados de una consulta p\u00fablica prevista para este verano antes de avanzar con una legislaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Presi\u00f3n pol\u00edtica y antecedentes internacionales<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En las \u00faltimas semanas, han aumentado los llamados tanto desde la oposici\u00f3n como desde sectores del propio Partido Laborista para que el Reino Unido adopte una prohibici\u00f3n similar a la de Australia, donde desde el 10 de diciembre los menores de 16 a\u00f1os tienen restringido el acceso a aplicaciones de redes sociales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">M\u00e1s de 60 diputados laboristas han instado p\u00fablicamente al primer ministro a respaldar la propuesta. Diversas figuras p\u00fablicas tambi\u00e9n han expresado su apoyo, argumentando que las familias no cuentan con suficientes herramientas para mitigar los posibles efectos negativos del uso de redes sociales en ni\u00f1os y adolescentes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No obstante, algunos grupos de protecci\u00f3n infantil han advertido que una prohibici\u00f3n total podr\u00eda generar una falsa sensaci\u00f3n de seguridad y desviar la atenci\u00f3n de otras medidas necesarias, como la educaci\u00f3n digital y una regulaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s estricta de las plataformas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seg\u00fan una encuesta de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouGov<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> realizada en diciembre, el 74% de los ciudadanos brit\u00e1nicos apoya una prohibici\u00f3n del uso de redes sociales para menores de 16 a\u00f1os.
