En ese proceso, Hudson\u2019s Bay Company (HBC) vender\u00e1 sus marcas a la compa\u00f1\u00eda Canadian Tire Corp. Ltd., por el valor de 30 millones de d\u00f3lares.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El anuncio fue realizado el jueves y se confirm\u00f3 que la transacci\u00f3n incluye no s\u00f3lo la marca Hudson\u2019s Bay, sino tambi\u00e9n la propiedad intelectual de la empresa minorista. Es decir, su ic\u00f3nico motivo de rayas multicolores, su escudo de armas y otras marcas registradas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trascendi\u00f3 que tras el acuerdo, Canadian Tire podr\u00e1 ofrecer en sus 1,700 tiendas, productos de las marcas de art\u00edculos para el hogar Gluckstein y Distinctly Home, tambi\u00e9n vender\u00e1 art\u00edculos de la marca de descuento Zellers, as\u00ed como la l\u00ednea de ropa Hudson North.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La empresa Canadian Tire, es propietaria de SportChek, Party City, Mark\u2019s y Pro Hockey Life. Greg Hicks, su director ejecutivo, declar\u00f3 que a pesar de la desalentadora bancarrota de Hudson &#8216;s Bay, su compa\u00f1\u00eda se sent\u00eda honrada de dar la bienvenida a muchas de las marcas l\u00edderes de HBC y que algunas cosas simplemente deben seguir siendo canadienses.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>La adquisici\u00f3n est\u00e1 en proceso<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para Greg Hicks, el acuerdo alcanzado no s\u00f3lo es estrat\u00e9gico, sino tambi\u00e9n patri\u00f3tico. Sin embargo la venta todav\u00eda necesita la aprobaci\u00f3n judicial y se espera que se concrete este verano. Recordemos que HBC no consigui\u00f3 financiaci\u00f3n para seguir operando.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En marzo pasado, Hudson\u2019s Bay solicit\u00f3 protecci\u00f3n a sus acreedores porque no ten\u00eda condiciones de pagar sus facturas, entre las razones argumentadas estaban la disminuci\u00f3n del tr\u00e1fico en el centro, la lenta recuperaci\u00f3n de la pandemia y el conflicto arancelario.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asfixiada y sin financiaci\u00f3n para mantener a flote sus 80 tiendas en Bay y 16 bajo la marca Saks, HBC comenz\u00f3 a liquidarlas y a enfocarse en encontrar la manera de evitar la desaparici\u00f3n total de sus marcas. En ese contexto se dio la propuesta de transferencia.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>El legado de Hudson\u2019s Bay<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hudson\u2019s Bay, fue fundada en 1670 como una empresa de comercio de pieles y controlaba gran parte del territorio, la econom\u00eda y las relaciones ind\u00edgenas del pa\u00eds. Sin duda, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de sus 355 a\u00f1os de existencia, ha jugado un papel fundamental en la historia de Canad\u00e1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Es decir, su legado trasciende a su rol de haber sido una importante cadena de tiendas de departamentos. Con el pasar del tiempo, HBC se transform\u00f3 en una empresa en la que los canadienses pod\u00edan confiar para comprar art\u00edculos para el hogar, ropa y mucho m\u00e1s.
