Hay comunidades latinoamericanas en M\u00e9xico, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay y otros pa\u00edses, con presencia hist\u00f3rica de inmigrantes de origen canadiense o con ancestros que migraron entre los dos continentes durante el siglo XX. Hay tambi\u00e9n comunidades de canadienses que emigraron a M\u00e9xico o Am\u00e9rica Central y cuyos descendientes podr\u00edan calificar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para quien sospeche que tiene un ancestro canadiense, el primer paso es conseguir registros de nacimiento, matrimonio y naturalizaci\u00f3n que demuestren la cadena de ciudadan\u00eda. El tr\u00e1mite se presenta ante IRCC como una solicitud de \u00abprueba de ciudadan\u00eda\u00bb, no de naturalizaci\u00f3n. La espera actual para procesar estos casos es de varios meses, dado el alto volumen de solicitudes que lleg\u00f3 especialmente desde Estados Unidos.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>\u00bfQu\u00e9 implica tener ciudadan\u00eda canadiense?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La ciudadan\u00eda canadiense da derecho a pasaporte canadiense, acceso pleno al sistema de salud y educaci\u00f3n p\u00fablica, derecho a votar y a trabajar sin restricciones. Para quien ya vive en Canad\u00e1 como residente permanente, la ciudadan\u00eda por descendencia significar\u00eda saltarse el proceso de naturalizaci\u00f3n por residencia. Para quien vive en otro pa\u00eds, significa tener la opci\u00f3n de venir a vivir aqu\u00ed en cualquier momento.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canad\u00e1 ampli\u00f3 de manera significativa qui\u00e9n puede ser ciudadano.
