En ese contexto, el instituto sostiene que t\u00e9rminos como \u201cestr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico\u201d o \u201ccrisis del agua\u201d ya no describen adecuadamente la magnitud del problema.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El documento propone el concepto de bancarrota h\u00eddrica para definir una situaci\u00f3n en la que el consumo de agua a largo plazo supera de forma sostenida su recarga natural, generando da\u00f1os ecol\u00f3gicos profundos e irreversibles. Entre los indicadores citados se encuentran la reducci\u00f3n de grandes lagos, el aumento de r\u00edos que no llegan al mar durante parte del a\u00f1o y la desaparici\u00f3n acelerada de humedales.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Agotamiento de acu\u00edferos y efectos del cambio clim\u00e1tico<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El informe estima que en los \u00faltimos 50 a\u00f1os se han perdido alrededor de 410 millones de hect\u00e1reas de humedales, una superficie cercana al tama\u00f1o de la Uni\u00f3n Europea. Adem\u00e1s, cerca del 70% de los principales acu\u00edferos del mundo, utilizados para agua potable y riego, muestran signos de deterioro a largo plazo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El agotamiento de las aguas subterr\u00e1neas se vincula tambi\u00e9n con un aumento de las crisis conocidas como \u201cd\u00eda cero\u201d, cuando la demanda urbana de agua supera la oferta disponible. A esto se suma el impacto del cambio clim\u00e1tico, que ha provocado la p\u00e9rdida de m\u00e1s del 30% de la masa glaciar global desde 1970, reduciendo el suministro estacional de agua del que dependen cientos de millones de personas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aunque las consecuencias son visibles en todos los continentes habitados, el informe aclara que no todos los pa\u00edses enfrentan la escasez de la misma manera. Sin embargo, subraya que el fen\u00f3meno representa una advertencia clara para replantear las pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas relacionadas con el agua.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El estudio no busca ofrecer un inventario exhaustivo de todos los problemas h\u00eddricos, sino redefinir el marco conceptual con el que se analiza la situaci\u00f3n global.
