As\u00ed lo advierte un an\u00e1lisis publicado en la revista <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lancet<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, elaborado por el Instituto de M\u00e9tricas y Evaluaci\u00f3n en Salud (IHME) de la Universidad de Washington.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entre 2010 y 2019, la protecci\u00f3n contra el sarampi\u00f3n disminuy\u00f3 en 100 pa\u00edses, incluidos algunos de altos ingresos que ya hab\u00edan eliminado la enfermedad. La pandemia de COVID-19 agudiz\u00f3 esta tendencia: solo en 2023, se estima que 15,6 millones de ni\u00f1os no recibieron ni una sola dosis de la vacuna contra la difteria, el t\u00e9tanos y la tos ferina (DTP), ni contra el sarampi\u00f3n. Otros 16 millones no recibieron la vacuna contra la polio y 9 millones no accedieron a la vacuna contra la tuberculosis, con mayor impacto en \u00c1frica subsahariana.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Ocho pa\u00edses concentran la mitad de los ni\u00f1os no vacunados<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El informe identific\u00f3 que m\u00e1s de la mitad de los ni\u00f1os no vacunados en 2023 viv\u00edan en solo ocho pa\u00edses: Nigeria, India, Rep\u00fablica Democr\u00e1tica del Congo, Etiop\u00eda, Somalia, Sud\u00e1n, Indonesia y Brasil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) estableci\u00f3 su programa de inmunizaci\u00f3n de rutina en 1974. Desde entonces, ha contribuido a vacunar a m\u00e1s de 4 mil millones de ni\u00f1os y salvar 154 millones de vidas. La cobertura global con tres dosis de la vacuna DTP pas\u00f3 del 40 % al 81 %, y la vacunaci\u00f3n contra el sarampi\u00f3n aument\u00f3 del 37 % al 83 %.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No obstante, esta tendencia positiva se ha frenado. La desinformaci\u00f3n, la desconfianza y la interrupci\u00f3n de servicios durante la pandemia han contribuido al retroceso. En Reino Unido, los niveles de vacunaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s bajos desde la d\u00e9cada de 1990 han causado un repunte de casos de sarampi\u00f3n y muertes por tos ferina. En Estados Unidos, las tasas de vacunaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n caen y las exenciones est\u00e1n en su nivel m\u00e1s alto.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La OMS ha reportado un aumento de 11 veces en los casos de sarampi\u00f3n en las Am\u00e9ricas en comparaci\u00f3n con 2024. Las infecciones se duplicaron en Europa durante el mismo per\u00edodo, y la enfermedad contin\u00faa siendo com\u00fan en \u00c1frica y el sudeste asi\u00e1tico.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Riesgo global por la falta de inmunizaci\u00f3n<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El estudio subraya que los brotes de enfermedades infecciosas no conocen fronteras. La falta de vacunaci\u00f3n en cualquier parte del mundo representa una amenaza sanitaria global.
