La mayor\u00eda de los afectados fueron ni\u00f1os menores de cinco a\u00f1os, quienes representaron el 40 % de los contagios. Adem\u00e1s, m\u00e1s de medio mill\u00f3n de ni\u00f1os no recibieron su primera dosis de la vacuna contra el sarampi\u00f3n en 2023, lo que ha contribuido al aumento de la vulnerabilidad frente al virus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEl sarampi\u00f3n ha regresado y es una llamada de atenci\u00f3n. Sin altas tasas de vacunaci\u00f3n, no hay seguridad sanitaria\u201d, declar\u00f3 el Dr. Hans P. Kluge, director regional de la OMS para Europa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El informe atribuye este repunte a un descenso sostenido en las tasas de vacunaci\u00f3n tras la pandemia de COVID-19. En muchos pa\u00edses, la cobertura de inmunizaci\u00f3n a\u00fan no ha vuelto a los niveles previos a la crisis sanitaria, lo que eleva considerablemente el riesgo de nuevos brotes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Europa represent\u00f3 un tercio de todos los casos de sarampi\u00f3n a nivel mundial en 2024, lo que refleja la magnitud del problema. La cobertura de vacunaci\u00f3n en gran parte del continente ha ca\u00eddo por debajo del umbral del 95 %, considerado necesario para lograr la inmunidad colectiva.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Pa\u00edses mayormente afectados<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La situaci\u00f3n es especialmente grave en Bosnia y Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia del Norte y Rumania, donde menos del 80 % de los ni\u00f1os elegibles fueron vacunados en 2023, muy por debajo del nivel recomendado.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La OMS y UNICEF recalcaron que la vacunaci\u00f3n es la mejor l\u00ednea de defensa contra el virus.
