Este puente, que se extiende 110 metros sobre un nuevo r\u00edo en el extremo sur de Cherry Street, lleg\u00f3 a la ciudad en diciembre de 2021 y ha estado en uso desde el oto\u00f1o de 2022. Forma parte de un ambicioso proyecto cuyo objetivo es proteger la costa este de Toronto de inundaciones causadas por grandes tormentas, como las que en 1954 provoc\u00f3 el hurac\u00e1n Hazel.<\/p>\n<p>Conexiones y un Futuro ResilienteAdem\u00e1s de los puentes, este proyecto incluye la inauguraci\u00f3n de dos nuevas carreteras: la nueva alineaci\u00f3n de Cherry Street entre Lake Shore Boulevard y Commissioners Street, y la reconstrucci\u00f3n de Commissioners Street entre Cherry y Saulter Streets.
