La propia municipalidad ha visto un aumento en las solicitudes de servicios en 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De acuerdo con el portavoz de la municipalidad, Shane Gerard, a\u00fan no est\u00e1n claras las razones por las que han enfermado o se han lesionado los mapaches, por ahora se sabe que una de las explicaciones tiene que ver con la presencia del virus del moquillo canino (CDV).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Qu\u00e9 dicen los n\u00fameros<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entre el primero de enero y el 30 de abril, los pedidos al TAS para recoger animales muertos fueron 2,851 y las llamadas para ayudar a animales enfermos o heridos alcanzaron las 3,716. Por su parte, la municipalidad recibi\u00f3 3,372 solicitudes relacionadas con cad\u00e1veres y 5,360 para tratar a animales enfermos y heridos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seg\u00fan Shane Gerard, el moquillo canino deja a los mapaches let\u00e1rgicos y desorientados, mostr\u00e1ndose confundidos y en algunos casos pareciera que no consiguieran ver bien. Esta situaci\u00f3n los torna agresivos al verse acorralados, a pesar de que parecen vagar sin rumbo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El portavoz a\u00f1adi\u00f3 que el CDV no representa un peligro para los humanos, sin embargo, puede afectar a las mascotas, por lo cual, la recomendaci\u00f3n es mantener vacunados principalmente a los perros para evitar que se contagien, pues las consecuencias podr\u00edan ser potencialmente graves.
