Seg\u00fan los investigadores, cuando esta prote\u00edna se pliega de forma incorrecta, adquiere una estructura t\u00f3xica que desencadena los procesos neurodegenerativos caracter\u00edsticos del Parkinson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A partir de este hallazgo, el equipo logr\u00f3 desarrollar una vacuna dise\u00f1ada para entrenar al sistema inmunol\u00f3gico a reconocer y defenderse frente a estas formas an\u00f3malas de la prote\u00edna. La estrategia apunta no solo a tratar, sino a prevenir la progresi\u00f3n de la enfermedad en sus etapas iniciales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Resultados preliminares abren nuevas expectativas<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Las pruebas en ratones ya est\u00e1n en marcha y han mostrado resultados alentadores. De acuerdo con los investigadores, los animales que recibieron la vacuna registraron una esperanza de vida hasta un 40% mayor en comparaci\u00f3n con aquellos que no fueron tratados, aunque finalmente continuaron desarrollando la enfermedad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El objetivo a largo plazo es aplicar este enfoque en humanos, especialmente en personas que presentan signos tempranos del Parkinson. Entre estos s\u00edntomas iniciales se encuentra el trastorno de conducta del sue\u00f1o REM, una condici\u00f3n en la que las personas act\u00faan f\u00edsicamente sus sue\u00f1os y que actualmente se considera un posible precursor de la enfermedad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pese al avance, los cient\u00edficos advierten que a\u00fan se requerir\u00e1 tiempo antes de iniciar ensayos cl\u00ednicos en humanos, ya que es necesario validar la seguridad y eficacia del tratamiento.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En paralelo a la investigaci\u00f3n, el Parkinson contin\u00faa afectando a pacientes con distintas velocidades de progresi\u00f3n, lo que refuerza la necesidad de desarrollar nuevas alternativas terap\u00e9uticas.
