Mediante una carta enviada a los 193 Estados miembros, la ONU invit\u00f3 a presentar nominaciones de candidatos que cuenten con amplia experiencia en relaciones internacionales, diplomacia y manejo de idiomas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En la comunicaci\u00f3n conjunta firmada por el presidente del Consejo de Seguridad, Michael Imran Kanu, y la presidenta de la Asamblea General, Annalena Baerbock, se subraya que el cargo exige \u201clos m\u00e1s altos est\u00e1ndares de eficiencia, competencia e integridad\u201d, as\u00ed como un firme compromiso con los prop\u00f3sitos de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Diversidad, participaci\u00f3n femenina y primera lista de aspirantes<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aunque cualquier regi\u00f3n puede postular candidatos, la tradici\u00f3n no escrita de rotaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica sugiere que esta vez la elecci\u00f3n podr\u00eda favorecer a Am\u00e9rica Latina, aunque este criterio no siempre se respeta. La carta tambi\u00e9n hace un llamado expl\u00edcito a considerar seriamente la nominaci\u00f3n de mujeres, destacando que ninguna ha ocupado el puesto en los 80 a\u00f1os de historia de la organizaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entre los nombres que ya circulan figuran la expresidenta de Chile Michelle Bachelet; el argentino Rafael Grossi, actual director del Organismo Internacional de Energ\u00eda At\u00f3mica; y la costarricense Rebeca Grynspan, secretaria general de la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre Comercio y Desarrollo (UNCTAD).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Las nominaciones deber\u00e1n ser presentadas por uno o varios Estados y acompa\u00f1arse de una declaraci\u00f3n de visi\u00f3n y un desglose de fuentes de financiamiento. Adem\u00e1s, como parte de las medidas de transparencia introducidas por primera vez en 2016, los aspirantes podr\u00e1n someterse a entrevistas p\u00fablicas durante el proceso.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El Consejo de Seguridad iniciar\u00e1 la etapa formal de selecci\u00f3n a finales de julio. Sus cinco miembros permanentes \u2014Estados Unidos, China, Rusia, Reino Unido y Francia\u2014 mantienen poder de veto y, por tanto, la capacidad de definir qui\u00e9n quedar\u00e1 en la terna final.
