Se trata de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lecanemab<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, comercializado bajo la marca Leqembi, desarrollado por la farmac\u00e9utica japonesa Eisai Ltd. y la biotecnol\u00f3gica estadounidense Biogen Inc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A diferencia de los tratamientos existentes que se enfocan en aliviar los s\u00edntomas, este f\u00e1rmaco act\u00faa sobre la causa subyacente de la enfermedad, al eliminar del cerebro las prote\u00ednas beta-amiloide, cuya acumulaci\u00f3n se asocia con la p\u00e9rdida de c\u00e9lulas cerebrales. Seg\u00fan los estudios cl\u00ednicos, el medicamento puede retrasar la progresi\u00f3n del deterioro cognitivo y funcional entre 10 y 13 meses en pacientes con deterioro cognitivo leve o demencia leve por Alzheimer.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Un avance terap\u00e9utico con desaf\u00edos de acceso<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health Canada<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> otorg\u00f3 una autorizaci\u00f3n condicional a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lecanemab<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, que estar\u00e1 sujeta a la presentaci\u00f3n de resultados adicionales que confirmen sus beneficios cl\u00ednicos.
