El aumento de casos ha generado preocupaci\u00f3n por el posible papel que juegan los sistemas de agua contaminados durante los meses de verano.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La infecci\u00f3n est\u00e1 vinculada a la bacteria <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Legionella pneumophila<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, que habita en ambientes de agua dulce y puede propagarse en sistemas de agua artificiales como torres de refrigeraci\u00f3n, jacuzzis, redes de plomer\u00eda, unidades de aire acondicionado y otros dispositivos que dispersan agua en forma de vapor.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Contagio, s\u00edntomas y grupos de riesgo<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La neumon\u00eda relacionada con esta bacteria no se transmite de persona a persona. Las personas se contagian al inhalar peque\u00f1as gotas de agua contaminada. El riesgo es particularmente alto en adultos mayores, fumadores, personas con enfermedades pulmonares cr\u00f3nicas y quienes tienen un sistema inmunol\u00f3gico comprometido.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El brote coincide con una serie de olas de calor que han afectado al sur de Ontario en las \u00faltimas semanas. Las autoridades locales est\u00e1n investigando posibles fuentes del brote y han iniciado inspecciones en instalaciones susceptibles, como hospitales, hoteles, centros comerciales y edificios de oficinas.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Llamado a la prevenci\u00f3n<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La unidad de salud p\u00fablica de London ha solicitado a empresas y administradores de edificios revisar y desinfectar sus sistemas de agua con urgencia.
