Aunque la compa\u00f1\u00eda respondi\u00f3 que su vacuna sigue siendo \u00abaprobable\u00bb, las recientes declaraciones en redes sociales del comisionado de la FDA, Marty Makary, han encendido las alarmas. Makary sugiri\u00f3 que un nuevo ensayo podr\u00eda ser necesario antes de actualizar la vacuna para la pr\u00f3xima temporada de virus, un requisito que dif\u00edcilmente podr\u00eda cumplirse antes del oto\u00f1o.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>\u00bfQu\u00e9 dicen los expertos?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El Dr. Jesse Goodman, exdirector de vacunas de la FDA y profesor en la Universidad de Georgetown, advierten que este cambio de pol\u00edtica ser\u00eda problem\u00e1tico. \u00abSi cada actualizaci\u00f3n de cepa fuera tratada como un producto nuevo, estar\u00edamos perpetuamente realizando ensayos cl\u00ednicos, sin lograr tener vacunas adaptadas a tiempo\u00bb, se\u00f1al\u00f3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La medida inusual llega tras la reciente salida del veterano jefe de vacunas de la FDA, quien habr\u00eda dejado el cargo debido a desacuerdos con el secretario de Salud, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Confirmado por el Senado bajo la promesa de no alterar el calendario de vacunaciones infantiles, Kennedy ha impulsado desde su llegada investigaciones controvertidas, entre ellas una revisi\u00f3n de la desmentida relaci\u00f3n entre vacunas y autismo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Actualmente, la vacuna de Novavax se ofrece bajo autorizaci\u00f3n de uso de emergencia, mientras que las opciones de ARNm, Pfizer y Moderna, ya cuentan con aprobaci\u00f3n total para determinados grupos etarios. Con el coronavirus mutando constantemente, la FDA hab\u00eda mantenido un enfoque similar al de las vacunas contra la gripe: actualizar anualmente la cepa objetivo sin considerar el producto como nuevo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sin embargo, en su publicaci\u00f3n reciente, Makary catalog\u00f3 la versi\u00f3n actualizada de Novavax como \u201cun producto nuevo\u201d, lo que justificar\u00eda la exigencia de un nuevo ensayo cl\u00ednico.
