Este aumento es menor al presentado originalmente que era del 10,5 por ciento.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aun con la disminuci\u00f3n, este aumento seguir\u00eda siendo el m\u00e1s elevado desde la fusi\u00f3n, superando el siete por ciento propuesto por el ex alcalde, John Tory. De ser aprobado el presupuesto, un propietario promedio de una residencia en Toronto pagar\u00e1 alrededor de 372 d\u00f3lares m\u00e1s en impuestos este 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Qu\u00e9 espera la municipalidad<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Las autoridades municipales han dejado clara la necesidad de enfrentar el pesado d\u00e9ficit de casi 1,800 millones de d\u00f3lares que hered\u00f3 de las anteriores administraciones. Para ello cuenta con que este aumento de impuestos a la propiedad, que junto a otras medidas, les proporcionen los recursos para alcanzar su objetivo de equilibrar las finanzas p\u00fablicas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La alcaldesa Olivia Chow, afirm\u00f3 que s\u00f3lo esa reducci\u00f3n a la propuesta inicial, les representa 42 millones de ingresos perdidos, recursos que todav\u00eda no han esclarecido de d\u00f3nde sacar\u00e1n. Un camino es el recorte al presupuesto presentado por la polic\u00eda, que ser\u00eda de 12 millones, sin embargo, el jefe Myron Demkiw, lo ha considerado un riesgo inaceptable.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>A la espera de otras fuentes de financiamiento<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La municipalidad de Toronto est\u00e1 esperando el apoyo financiero del gobierno federal, si las autoridades de Ottawa, no liberan 250 millones de d\u00f3lares, para ayudar a los refugiados y solicitantes de asilo, que por cierto son de responsabilidad federal, el Comit\u00e9 de Presupuesto de Toronto, se ver\u00e1 obligado a impulsar un impuesto adicional del seis por ciento.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La alcaldesa Olivia Chow, durante la elaboraci\u00f3n del presupuesto ha intercambiado ideas y propuestas con los concejales de la ciudad, asimismo, hasta el \u00faltimo momento ha venido escuchando las inquietudes de los residentes para presentar un presupuesto con propuestas m\u00e1s ajustadas a las necesidades no s\u00f3lo de la municipalidad, sino principalmente de los habitantes de esta ciudad.
