Para los inmigrantes, que ya navegan un sistema de salud complejo,\u00a0 esto se traduce en m\u00e1s gasto de bolsillo y menos red de protecci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h2><b>\u00bfQu\u00e9 era el farmacare?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Era el nombre con el que se conoc\u00eda el programa de cobertura farmac\u00e9utica universal que el gobierno de Trudeau comenz\u00f3 a construir por etapas. La primera fase inclu\u00eda convenios con las provincias para garantizar acceso gratuito a insulinas para personas con diabetes y a m\u00e9todos anticonceptivos. No era el sistema completo que muchos esperaban, pero era un comienzo. Para una familia reci\u00e9n llegada ajustando cada gasto, la diferencia es concreta.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>\u00bfQu\u00e9 opciones tienen los inmigrantes y residentes permanentes?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Primero, revisar qu\u00e9 programas de medicamentos ofrece la provincia donde viven: cada una tiene sus propios esquemas de cobertura para grupos espec\u00edficos. En Ontario, el programa Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) cubre ciertos medicamentos para personas de bajos ingresos, adultos mayores y quienes reciben asistencia social. No es universal, pero existe y vale la pena verificar si se califica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Segundo, si el empleador ofrece plan de salud colectivo, conviene confirmar que incluye medicamentos recetados.
