Asimismo, afirma que en 2025 hab\u00eda aproximadamente 85 mil ciudadanos en estas penosas condiciones y se registraron alrededor de dos mil campamentos en toda la provincia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De acuerdo con el informe de la OMA, m\u00e1s de la mitad de estas personas permanecieron periodos prolongados de seis meses o m\u00e1s sin un hogar, de las cuales cerca de 20 mil son ni\u00f1os o j\u00f3venes. Esta situaci\u00f3n es m\u00e1s alarmante en las regiones del norte, as\u00ed como en las zonas rurales, donde se ha registrado un crecimiento del n\u00famero de desamparados, dice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para la directora ejecutiva de la Asociaci\u00f3n de Municipios de Ontario, Lindsay Jones, la situaci\u00f3n es consecuencia de una inversi\u00f3n insuficiente en los sistemas sociales durante muchos a\u00f1os. De esa forma, no se ofrece un apoyo fundamental a las personas necesitadas, como la seguridad social, la salud mental, las adicciones y una vivienda asequible, pondera.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>De cara al futuro<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La AMO reporta que entre 2016 y 2020, la falta de vivienda aument\u00f3 un 6,3%, mientras que entre 2021 y 2025, este incremento alcanz\u00f3 un 49,1%. A\u00f1adi\u00f3 que la falta de vivienda no volvi\u00f3 a los niveles anteriores a 2020, lo que indica que la disponibilidad de vivienda y apoyo no ha acompa\u00f1ado la persistencia de la falta de vivienda tras la pandemia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jones asevera que si la crisis econ\u00f3mica actual se mantiene, es probable que la situaci\u00f3n de las personas sin hogar contin\u00fae empeorando hasta el 2035, cuando proyectan que habr\u00e1 177 mil personas sin hogar. Y si la econom\u00eda se desploma, dada la coyuntura de guerra comercial, este n\u00famero podr\u00eda llegar a las 300 mil personas para ese a\u00f1o, dice el informe.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Qu\u00e9 dice el gobierno de Ontario<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seg\u00fan el ministro de Vivienda, Rob Flack, el gobierno ha invertido recientemente $75,5 millones para crear 1,239 viviendas adicionales, 815 viviendas de apoyo y 971 plazas de refugio. Adem\u00e1s de $1,700 millones como parte de un programa de prevenci\u00f3n de falta de vivienda y 550 millones en 20 centros de tratamiento para personas sin hogar y adicciones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Por su parte, el premier Doug Ford, afirm\u00f3 que la mejor manera de ayudar a una persona sin hogar es capacitarla y conseguirle un trabajo bien remunerado. Mencion\u00f3 el apoyo ofrecido por el Fondo de Desarrollo de Habilidades de su gobierno y destac\u00f3 que quiere ayudar a las personas que desean recuperarse y con el tiempo alquilar un departamento.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sin embargo, para los pol\u00edticos de oposici\u00f3n en Ontario, la falta de vivienda contin\u00faa empeorando bajo el liderazgo de Doug Ford, as\u00ed lo hizo saber la vice l\u00edder del Partido Verde, Aislinn Clancy.
